The Men's Health MOT Guide

SHIFT Health MOT now names a home blood-test information route. An older browser questionnaire also used the name. They are separate from each other and from the NHS Health Check. Start by checking which service or tool you mean, and what is actually available.

Check the current route first

The main Health MOT link leads to the SHIFT Health home blood-test information page. Read its availability notice, what the proposed service includes and who would interpret results. A catalogue description does not establish that ordering or results integration is enabled. The older browser questionnaire is not a substitute for that service.

What the legacy questionnaire can tell you

Where the older questionnaire is used, its report groups information and questions worth discussing. The priority counts are not a validated health score or a percentage risk of disease. A low number of highlighted areas cannot rule out a problem. Symptoms, history and professional assessment can change what matters most. Do not change treatment because of its report.

Keep the different records separate

The legacy questionnaire stores its answers in the browser where it runs; it does not upload them into My Timber. A shared browser profile can retain sensitive information. Clearing the site’s browser data removes that local copy, not separate account-backed records. Opening a home-test information page does not import earlier answers or a laboratory result.

The NHS Health Check is a different service

The NHS Health Check assesses cardiovascular health through professional measurements and discussion. Eligibility depends on age and existing conditions; people with established conditions may need their existing care team's reviews instead. Ask your practice or local service what applies to you. A completed SHIFT form is not proof that you have attended a professional check.

Turn the result into an appointment note

  • Write the one concern you most want help with, in your own words.
  • List recent measurements, medicines and changes you have noticed, including when they began.
  • Ask what needs assessment, which action comes first and when to review it.
  • Record the agreed next step somewhere private. Do not assume opening another SHIFT tool transfers the MOT answers.

Take one manageable step afterwards

Agree the next action with the appropriate professional. If advice is to build a routine, choose something that fits a real day: book a follow-up, prepare an easy meal or plan suitable movement. Use My Timber to record what you choose there. If symptoms concern you, seek medical help rather than waiting for a postal test or a progress trend.
