Changes in weight, food and activity may improve cholesterol for some people. The result needs to be checked with a blood test.
Weight is not the whole explanation
Inherited conditions and other health factors can affect cholesterol. Reducing saturated fat may be useful, but diet changes do not make prescribed medicine automatically unnecessary. A smaller waist cannot tell you your cholesterol level.
What you can do next
Ask when your cholesterol should next be checked and what the different results mean for you. Keep medication changes with the clinician managing them.
