Frequently asked question

Is Wegovy the same as Ozempic?

Wegovy and Ozempic both contain semaglutide, but they are distinct products. Their licensed uses and prescribing instructions differ.

Do not infer a substitute from the ingredient

Ozempic is a diabetes product. Wegovy is used for weight management under its own criteria and now has different UK-authorised formulations. A supply problem does not make a self-directed brand or formulation switch safe.

What you can do next

Ask your prescriber about the exact product and current care plan. Follow its own leaflet and keep changes with that prescriber.
